The Catastrophic Phenomena Dominantly Driving and Common to the Permian Mass Extinction as well as the Contemporary AGW Mass Extinction
Although there are huge differences between the Permian mass extinction aka The Great Dying and the contemporary AGW mass extinction the common main driving phenomena, also driving eachother, are striking and of utmost importance. Therefore the AGW mass extinction becoming as bad, even worse and faster, as The Great Dying is very plausible. These common main driving phenomena are:
- The rising CO2 levels. In AGW this surge is initially manmade and partially compensated by ecosystems sequestering the manmade CO2. However whereas on average about 60% of manmade CO2 was sequestered twenty years ago nowadays this is only on average about 40%. As ecosystems further collapse (by manmade destruction, rising temperatures and climate change) this sequestering probably will reverse to ecosystems releasing potentially massive natural CO2 reserves.
- The rising global temperature. In AGW this surge is initially caused by manmade CO2 but also more and more by methane. See below. In The Great Dying this resulted in a catastrophic temperature rise of 11 degrees Celsius because of a massive release of CO2 and methane. These two phenomena, temperature rise and greenhouse gas release, drive eachother. Such a huge global temperature rise in AGW is very plausible. I see no reason why this temperature rise would not finally also happen in AGW.
- The rising methane levels. The levels rise because of manmade releases (fossil fuel production, leaks, ...) and rising natural releases because of the rising temperatures. There exist massive natural methane reserves that are released more and more as temperatures rise.
- Ecosystem Destruction. The death spreading agriculture and other human activities already have destroyed and are destroying more and more ecosystems and habitat. See the link further down. Besides this direct human made destruction rising temperatures, climate change, biodiversity loss, extreme weather, heat and erosion will be catastrophic for those ecosystems.
As always the IPCC is hiding the real risks of AGW by not really taking fully into account the above phenomena and pretending temperature rise could be limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius. After all given the "civilised", exploiting and wasteful way the human species lives and provides for itself and given the selfserving, exploiting and sociopathic elites in power, stopping, even significantly reducing, fossil fuel GHG emissions and other human destructive activities is totally unrealistic. Furthermore enormous damage has already been done. Actually, taking global dimming into account earth is currently already over 1.5 degrees Celsius.

AGW, anthropogenic global warming, destabilizes and destroys ever more ecosystems and tremendous areas of habitat for human kind by all kinds of weather extremes especially extreme heat as is argued in the Tumia article below. Not only has human kind realized the AGW CO2 greenhouse gas rise 100 times faster than with earlier mass extinctions in natural history, the death spreading agriculture and other human activities already have destroyed and are destroying more and more ecosystems and habitat for humans thus fueling the self reinforcing death spiral of ecosystem destruction and climate change by a double whamming as argued in the article below. So the above promises a mass extinction as never seen before in natural history. Good luck to the human species. They will need it and much sooner than ever imagined:

The vicious cycle of Ecosystem Destruction(X)Climate Change is accelerating severely and drives together with fossil fuel burning a runaway and abrupt sixth mass extinction at a speed as never seen before in natural history. This is a vicious cycle because ecosystem destruction drives climate change and vice versa climate change drives ecosystem destruction. See below for a growing list of video's about large scale phenomena driving this vicious cycle.
